The hospital in Malabo was planned three years after La Paz Bata. By integrating the productive comments we received from our clients in the previous project, we succeeded in shortening the construction process substantially.
While work was already underway, we were faced with a myriad of constructional challenges, arising from the hilly terrain. Adaptation and flexibility, which have become synonyms to IMS, were applied successfully in both engineering and design aspects, without causing a delay to the tight schedule.
To enhance efficiency and provide instant response in case of emergencies, most medical personnel reside in at the hospital compound, which includes all facilities for them and their families.
In addition, a hotel was built in the hospital vicinity, to allow visitors and patients' family members the option to stay nearby.
In order to ensure autonomous and ongoing operation of the hospital, IMS had created an energy power supply center within the complex, which guarantees a continuous and uninterrupted functioning of all medical units during electricity failures.
The construction of the healthcare center was completed in 2011 and since then, it fully serves the public.
